Explora's story

Both of us are originally from Chile, and have had the privilege to travel for several years, and live abroad in different countries and cultures. The opportunities to explore over the years have been immensely inspiring for us both. We had always been thinking of businesses to contribute to society, to help people and the environment, and we created Explora as our means for doing so.


Everything started a couple of months after we moved to Tasmania during our working holiday visa. We realised how a lot of people were struggling to find cars to rent for that summer, and after we analysed that closely, Sebastian started building the idea of renting cars with camping gear. I, Joice, added my passion for service, thinking of how important it was to make our customers feel supported on their travel to the wild and breathtaking Tasmania.


We wanted to make a difference by giving excellent service and also a product that didn’t exist: A car to explore Tasmania with all the necessary camping equipment, so customers won’t have to plan their trip 6 months in advance because they couldn’t find any affordable prices for cars or accommodation. This would help travellers to make their journey more accessible, without extra worries or expenses on camping gear they will only use once, plus having the best local recommendations and tips.

Explora is quite a new business, but it has been living inside of us for a few years before that. It is our passion to facilitate unforgettable experiences for everyone visiting Tasmania, and there are many ideas we will be implementing in the very near future.
