DAY1

Hobart → Freycinet

2.5 hrs driving · Stock up on groceries in Hobart before you leave, supermarkets get sparse on the east coast

Camp tonight: Freycinet National Park Campground ($13/night), book ahead in summer, it fills fast. Or Friendly Beaches just outside the park, which is free and right on the water.

DAY2

Freycinet → Bay of Fires

2 hrs driving · slow morning allowed

Freycinet National Park | Explora

Camp tonight: Swimcart Beach or Jeanneret Beach are completely free, right on the water, no booking needed. In peak season arrive by early afternoon to get a good spot. Cosy Corner North is another favourite a bit further along.

DAY3

Full day at Bay of Fires

No driving · the day most people say was their favourite

Camp tonight: Same spot as last night. You’ve earned the extra night.

DAY4

Bay of Fires → Port Arthur

3 hrs driving · the big driving day but worth it

Camp tonight: Fortescue Bay Campground ($13/night, national park, beautiful sheltered bay) or Stewart’s Bay Lodge camping near Port Arthur.

DAY5

Port Arthur → Hobart

1.5 hrs driving · easy final day
