We offer long-term rentals on a limited basis during our off-peak season. Availability is limited and this is an enquiry-only service. Read through the details below, then send us a message at the bottom of the page.
The Cars
Availability depends on our short-term booking schedule. We cannot always guarantee a specific model. All prices are per week and exclude the security bond.
Toyota Corolla Hatchback
$200 per week
5 seats. Automatic. Fuel efficient. Good for one or two people. Easy to park anywhere in Hobart or Launceston.
Kia Cerato
$200 per week
5 seats. Automatic. Similar size to the Corolla. A solid, comfortable option for couples or solo renters.
Toyota Corolla Sedan
$220 per week
5 seats. Automatic. A bit more boot space than the hatchback. Good if you need to carry more gear or luggage.
Toyota Kluger
$250 per week
7 seats. Automatic. Large SUV with plenty of storage. Best for families or anyone carrying a lot of gear.
Security Bond
We accept bank transfers in AUD and most major currencies including EUR, GBP, USD, NZD, CAD and others. We will send the bank details when we confirm your booking.
For long-term rentals the bond is paid by bank transfer or cash at the time of pickup. Pre-authorisation is also available.
Refund timing: if the car is returned in good condition with no outstanding charges, the bond is refunded the same day or the next business day.
What You Need to Know
This is a summary of the main conditions. The full terms and conditions apply to all rentals and are sent to you when we confirm the booking.

| Availability | April to November only. Not available December to March (we need the cars for short-term rental during peak season). |
| Payment schedule | Weekly in advance. Payments are due every 7 days from the start of the rental. A $5 per day late fee applies if a payment is missed. |
| Permitted roads | Sealed roads only. These cars are 2WD and are not suitable for rough tracks, unsealed roads, or any surface marked as requiring high clearance or 4WD. |
| Driver eligibility | Must hold a valid licence. Under 25 attracts a higher bond. International licences accepted if in English or with a certified translation. |
| Fuel | Provided with a full tank. Must be returned full. Fuel charged at $3.50 per litre if not full at return, minimum $25. |
| Return condition | Clean and in the same condition as pickup. Cleaning fees from $50 apply. Smoking in the vehicle is $200. |
| Late return | 3-hour grace period. After that, charged as a full additional day. |
| Traffic fines | Renter responsibility. A $50 admin fee applies per infringement notice Explora has to process. |
| Incidents and damage | Report within 24 hours. Failure to report may void insurance and result in full liability. |
| Cancellations | More than 14 days: deposit refunded minus admin fees. 4 to 14 days: 30% non-refundable. Under 3 days or no-show: no refund. |
| Insurance | Basic insurance included. Collision Damage Waiver applies within agreed terms. Prohibited use voids coverage. |
