Not at all. The car comes pre-packed and ready to go. Our route guide walks you through everything, and we’re a phone call away if you need anything during your trip.

Every car comes with a full camping setup — free. Tent, sleeping bags, mats, pillows, chairs, a table, a cooler and cooking gear. Just bring your clothes. Everything else is ready to go.

All vehicles include MAIB insurance, which covers passengers’ hospital expenses in case of an accident.

We don’t sell extra insurance, instead, we work with a bond system. You’ll leave a refundable deposit ($1000–$1500) at pick-up, which covers potential damage. If everything’s fine at drop-off, you get it all back.

We recommend having personal roadside assistance, as basic support doesn’t cover things like lost keys or flat tyres. 😊

Pick-up and drop-off is in Hobart, conveniently located near the airport and CBD. Exact address is provided when you book.

Tasmania has incredible freedom camping options. Our route guide includes the best free and low-cost sites so you’re never without a great spot to stop for the night.

Yes, most of our international guests do. You need a full licence you’ve held for at least 12 months. If it’s in English, you’re set. If not, bring an English translation or an International Driving Permit (a small booklet you get back home before you fly). Just bring the real licence with you.

Yes. You can rent from age 21. The only difference is the bond — $1,500 instead of $1,000. Same cars, same gear, same freedom. You just need to have held your full licence for at least 12 months.

Don’t worry, small scratches happen. For minor marks, we cover the repair from your bond, so there’s no surprise bill. For bigger damage, there’s a set limit on what you’d pay, so you always know the most it could cost. If anything happens, your safety comes first, and you’ll always see photos and a clear quote before anything is charged.

Almost anywhere fun. Our cars handle sealed and good gravel roads just fine. To keep everyone safe, please skip beaches, riverbeds, flooded roads, 4WD-only tracks, and snow zones like Cradle Mountain in winter. Not sure if a road’s okay? Just ask, we know them well.

We hold a refundable bond during your trip: $1,000 if you’re 25 or older, $1,500 if you’re under 25. Bring the car back in good shape with a full tank and we send it back fast — same day for daytime drop-offs, next morning if it’s after hours.

Will I freeze in a tent in winter?

Our sleeping bags and tents are chosen for Tasmanian winter temperatures — not summer gear dressed up. Hundreds of people have done this with us in June and July. None of them were cold. That's the right gear, not luck.

We don't own any camping gear at all.

You don't need to own a single thing. The car arrives packed with everything — tent, sleeping bags, mats, blankets, pillows, stove, pots, pans, plates, cutlery, chairs, table, cooler, headlamps. You bring your clothes.

What if we pick the wrong spots and waste the trip?

At every pickup we share a real, honest plan for your trip based on your dates and the conditions — the secret campsite, the best winter tracks, the spots that don't make it onto any travel blog. Free with every booking.

This seems complicated to organise in time.

One booking covers everything. 10% deposit holds your car. Pay the rest at pickup. Dates change? Talk to us — we're flexible. You could sort this in the next 10 minutes.

What if something goes wrong far from home?

You're not dealing with a call centre. Joice and Sebastian run this personally. Car issue, gear question, route change — WhatsApp us and we respond fast. You are not alone out there. That's a promise, not a policy.
